Two Students Arrested in Middle School Campus Fight That Left Victim Hospitalized

The fight broke out on the campus of Landmark Middle School

Two students were arrested after a fight at a Southern California middle school left a classmate hospitalized in critical condition.

The fight broke out on the campus of Landmark Middle School at 15261 Legendary Drive about 1 p.m., said Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. William Stens. Deputies were called to the location to investigate after the boy was taken to Riverside University Medical Center for treatment of "significant injuries," Stens said.

He did not specify what the altercation was about or whether the boy was struck with an object. In a tweet Tuesday, the sheriff's department said it's still attempting to determine what led to the fight.

The student were arrested on suspicion of assault likely to produce great bodily injury.

Investigators were asking witnesses to contact the Moreno Valley sheriff's station at 951-486-6700.
