Thirteen People Injured When Two Buses Collide in Boyle Heights

Thirteen people were injured Thursday in a crash involving two buses on the eastbound 10 Freeway in the Boyle Heights area.

The collision occurred near Soto Street about 11 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Paramedics took the injured to hospitals for treatment of injuries that were described as non-life-threatening, the LAFD reported.

A Greyhound intercity bus hit the rear of a Foothill Transit "Silver Streak" line commuter bus, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. About 40 people were on the two buses.

About a half-hour earlier, a pickup truck crashed down an embankment from the westbound freeway near Soto Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. No injuries were reported in that crash.
