Bruce Beresford-Redman Extradited to Mexico

Former reality show producer accused of killing wife

Producer Bruce Beresford-Redman was extradited to Mexico on Wednesday to face allegations that he killed his wife while on vacation there in April 2010, according to his attorney.

"Our client, Bruce Beresford-Redman, is in the process of being extradited to Mexico," attorney Richard G. Hirsch said.

The former reality show producer had waived his rights to appeal the extradition, said Steve Jaffe, a spokesman for Hirsch's office.

"He has always stated that he is innocent of the charges against him and it is his hope that the court in Cancun will assure that he receives a fair trial in which, he is confident, he will be exonerated," Hirsch said.

Beresford-Redman is accused of killing his wife, 41-year-old Westside restaurant owner Monica Burgos. The pair were in Cancun, Mexico, vacationing with their two children.

"After nearly 15 months in United States custody, Bruce will finally be returned to Mexico to stand trial for Monica's murder. This day marks a major milestone in our journey to ensure justice for Monica," the Burgos family wrote in a statement released Wednesday.

The full family statement is available online here.
