Brush Fire Burns Brentwood Hillside

The early morning fire burned in steep terrain and near narrow streets

Firefighters on the ground backed by water-dropping helicopters battled a small brush fire early Tuesday in the hills above Brentwood.

The fire behind 23 North Oakmont Drive was reported at 3:55 a.m. and knocked down at 5:24 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The quarter-acre fire burned in an area with steep terrain and narrow streets, complicating firefighters' efforts.

About 80 firefighters and three water-dropping helicopters responded.
