Three Bodies Found in SUV Parked on Burbank Street

Police launched a "suspicious death" investigation after the discovery of three bodies Tuesday in a sport utility vehicle parked on a Burbank street near the 5 Freeway.

Police were still working to determine a cause of death.

The suspicious death investigation is in the 1300 block of Varney Street. A parking enforcement officer noticed the bodies in the back seat of the red Jeep SUV while looking into a parking complaint around 7 a.m.

"This is definitely suspicious and we believe foul play is involved, so it's being treated as a homicide at this time," Dgt. Derek Green of the Burbank Police Department said.

The SUV, which has Tennessee license plates, is parked in an industrial business area near a Home Depot. That area also includes an SPCA and a pet grooming center.

"Any time there's dead bodies in the neighborhood where you live, where you work, you have concern," said Rob Embry, a production studio manager who works nearby.

Burbank Police Department investigators say they are in the process of collecting surveillance video in the area and speaking to workers to try to find out when the car was parked and possibly who was driving it.
