CSUN Student Athlete Charged With Attacks on Three Women

A student athlete at Cal State Northridge was charged Tuesday with attacks on three women this year.

Davis Moreno-Jaime, 19, of Loma Linda, is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 13 at the San Fernando courthouse on one felony count each of forcible rape and false imprisonment by violence and one misdemeanor count each of sexual battery and battery.

The criminal complaint alleges that Moreno-Jaime forcibly raped a woman between Jan. 1 and Jan. 31, and sexually battered and falsely imprisoned another woman and battered a third woman on or between July 4 and July 5.

He could face up to 12 years in state prison if convicted as charged, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

The 2017 Redlands High School graduate played soccer at Cal State Northridge, and the alleged attacks reportedly occurred on or near the campus.

But authorities have revealed few details of the case, including whether the alleged victims are CSUN students, citing the ongoing investigation.

"This is an ongoing multi-jurisdictional investigation involving several law enforcement agencies,'' CSUN Chief of Police Anne Glavin said in a statement released last week.

She urged potential victims or anyone with information to call police.

"Let me say particularly to our CSUN students, it does not matter where the crime occurred. Please just walk into one or the other of the police departments and report what happened,'' Glavin said. "Telling us your story does not obligate you to see it through to the full prosecution under law. If that happens, good."

She added, "I want to make it clear: CSUN does not tolerate sexual assault, period. We do not take the crimes committed by or against members of our community lightly."

Moreno-Jaime was arrested last Friday at the university and has remained behind bars since then in lieu of $1 million bail, according to jail records.

He scored on his only shot in 14 games with the Matadors as a freshman during the 2017 season.
