Fire Burns Apartment, Vehicles in Carport

The fire spread from a carport to an apartment complex early Tuesday in Downey

    Two apartment units were damaged and at least five vehicles were destroyed early Tuesday in a fire that started in a carport and spread to an apartment building.

    The fire, reported at about 1 a.m. in the 8800 block of Pico Vista Road, was knocked down in about 15 minutes. The fire spread quickly through the carport and left behind a row of burned out vehicles that were parked at the complex.

    Two residences were damaged.

    Live power lines fell onto the vehicles during the firefight. Power outages were reported in the neighborhood and utility crews also responded to the location.

    No serious injuries were reported. Arson invesigators are the location Tuesday morning.
