Cask Beers + Nacho Fest + Anaheim Vibes

Firk fans, there's a fiesta "brew"-ing at the Anaheim Packing House Farmer's Park.

What to Know

  • Saturday, June 29
  • Anaheim Packing House's Farmer's Park
  • $45 (Anaheim Fall Festival and Halloween Parade is the beneficiary)

If you know your firkins, and we'll assume that you do, you know that the old-school casks can hold about ten gallons of delicious ale, in addition to other liquid-y treasures.

Not all at once, of course. But firkins & liquid are longtime BFFs.

But coming across such a mythical cask? Firk fans may be disappointed, for finding a firkin isn't always easy, even in Southern California's ever-blooming universe of quality craft beer-making.

The firkins, however, shall be out in force at FirkFest, which'll deliver the foams, and mouthwatering melty-cheese-tortilla-chip-y goodness, to Farmer's Park at the Anaheim Packing House on Saturday, June 29.

Firkfest, a staple on the OC beer calendar, always has a beneficiary in mind, and this year's goal is to raise funds for the beloved Anaheim Halloween Parade and Fall Festival, which will mark its first century in just five years.

And, of course, to celebrate superior beer and a munchable food that pairs well with it.

The 2019 snack? Nachos will be the cheese-laden focus, oh happy day.

Which means that the 2019 theme of Viva Firkfest Fiesta! will be taken quite to heart. Wear your fiesta finery — people do dress up in theme for Firkfest — and prepare to sample "(u)nlimited 2-4oz cask pours from over 30 Socal Craft Breweries."

The nachos?

They'll be available for purchase at the "international-style nacho bar," a dream dreamt up by chefs at the Packing House.

International. Style. Nacho. Bar. If ever four words needed to be called out and doted upon. If ever.

The hours are noon to 4 o'clock, the "beers all arrive cold and are bursting with carbonation," and casks'll be up to the task of getting a throng of brew buffs talking about what makes a great glass of suds.

We've got a question to cask you: Is this something worth firking towards? Best get to downtown Anaheim on the last Saturday in June.
