    Chino Hills Fire Damages Home

    A house burned Sunday in a fire that began in nearby brush during a warm afternoon in Chino Hills.

    The fire, which continued to burn early Monday, chewed through more than 150 acres south of the 60 Freeway. Flames ignited at about 2 p.m.  Sunday in a rugged area near Falling Star Lane and Chino Hills Parkway.

    A house burned and the blaze, which was 65-percent contained late Sunday by lines of cleared vegetation, fire officials said. Forward progress of the blaze was reported stopped, officials said at 5:30 p.m., and containment had increased early Monday.

    No injuries were reported.

    The Chino Valley Fire District said there were drops in water pressure during the firefight. A news conference is scheduled for Monday morning.

    Chino Hills Parkway reopened at 10 p.m. but Chino Avenue between Rock Springs Road and Chino Hills Parkway was to be closed throughout the night as firefighters continued to work, fire officials said.

    Firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the Chino Valley and Los Angeles County fire departments, as well as CalFire, were battling the blaze.
