PICTURING THE PUMPKINS... and hay rides and corn mazes and tractors and spooky sights and autumnal treats of Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark? It's pretty easy, if you've ever made your way out to the fresh-air'd spread during the month of October. That's when the Fall Festival jigs onto the property, bringing with it all of the nostalgic sounds and pleasures and games that are associated with the season. In fact, it can be hard for many Southern California families to picture Underwood without its pumpkins and hay bales, if October is the main time you visit. (You can visit throughout the calendar, of course, for just-plucked produce or pick-your-own berries and such.) But come December? The pumpkins have rolled away and the mazes have been de-mazed and it is all about pine-y trees, the sort of firs that stand in living room windows and sparkle with lights throughout the holiday season. CHRISTMAS ON THE FARM... has arrived in Moorpark. You can swing by through Sunday, Dec. 17 to do your tree shopping — those pretty green specimens hail from the Northwest, if you're wondering — and if you visit during the first two weekends of December, you'll see a gentleman who goes by the name of Mr. Claus. Note that the Farm Center is only open on weekends, and admission is six dollars, and your tractor ride is included (as is the super-cute animal show).
