Democratic congressional candidate Gil Cisneros continued Wednesday to cut into the lead of Republican Young Kim in the 39th Congressional District.
Meanwhile, Democrat Katie Porter's lead over Rep. Mimi Walters, R-Irvine, swelled as votes continued to be tallied more than a week after Election Day.
Cisneros trails Kim by 122 votes, according to figures released by election officials in Orange, Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties. Cisneros trailed by 839 votes in counting completed Tuesday.
Kim was in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday for orientation for newly elected House members and posed in a group photo. Cisneros remained in the district to monitor vote counting.
The pair are vying to replace Kim's longtime boss, retiring Rep. Ed Royce, R-Brea.
Porter jumped ahead of Walters for the first time Tuesday for the 45th District seat. Porter was ahead by 261 votes yesterday, but her lead increased to 3,797 Wednesday.
Porter is ahead 50.8 percent to 49.2 percent for Walters.
Democratic real estate investor Harley Rouda leads Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher by a 52.7 percent to 47.3 percent margin. Rouda declared victory on Saturday.
In other close races, Democrat Cottie Petrie-Norris expanded her lead over Assemblyman Matthew Harper 51.8 percent to 48.2 percent.
Republican La Habra Mayor Tim Shaw clung to a slim lead over Democratic Fullerton Mayor Doug Chaffee in the nonpartisan race for the Fourth District seat on the Board of Supervisors with Shaw ahead 50.2 percent to 49.8 percent.
