Cold Snap Brings High Winds, Sub-Freezing Temps

Strong winds are expected to lash parts of Southern California on Monday afternoon after a night of sub-freezing temperatures.

Santa Ana winds of up to 65 mph will sweep across the mountains of Ventura and Los Angeles counties, including the Santa Monica range and Santa Clarita Valley, the National Weather Service said. The western San Fernando Valley, Hollywood Hills and Malibu canyons will get gusts of up to 50 mph.

The strong offshore wind event will bring the strongest gusts during the mid morning and afternoon hours Monday and into Tuesday morning.

Hard freeze conditions - temperatures at or below 28 degrees - are likely for the Antelope Valley on Monday and Tuesday as well.

A high wind warning and wind advisory was issued for Tuesday across most of the region.
