Search for Man Who Allegedly Shot at Deputies in Cudahy Ends Without Arrest

A search inside a Cudahy neighborhood to locate a person who allegedly fired at sheriff's deputies Sunday ended with no sign of the man, according to the sheriff's department.

The incident began about 11:15 a.m. in the 5100 block of Santa Ana Street, where deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department tried to pull over a reckless driver triggering a short pursuit, the Sheriff's Information Bureau reported.

"The suspect stopped and exited the vehicle, pointed a gun at the deputies and a deputy-involved shooting occurred," according to a news statement.

No injuries were reported.

The shooter then fled the scene on foot and containment was set up to locate him.

The shooter was described as 5-feet-7 to 5-feet-9-inches tall, with a thin build, dark hair and wearing dark clothing.

The containment perimeters were south of Elizabeth Street, north of Cecilia Street, east of Wilcox Avenue and west of River Road, the department said.

The search ended about 4:30 p.m. with "no sign of the suspect," said Deputy Michelle Sanchez.

Anyone with information on this DIS was asked to call the sheriff's East L.A. station at 323-264-4151.
