A more than four-month investigation led to the arrest of a 67-year-old Corona woman on suspicion of financial elder abuse of an 85-year-old woman, authorities said Friday.
A deputy responded to a home in the 24000 block of Owl Court, near Whitetail Drive, in an unincorporated area near Corona on Dec. 7, 2018, regarding a report of financial elder abuse and an investigation determined the victim had suffered a loss of $34,000 in cash and property, according to Sgt. Brett Seckinger of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Detectives from the Lake Elsinore sheriff's station developed leads and, after an extensive investigation involving search warrants for bank records and residences, the suspect, identified as Michelle Kathlyn Pardes, was arrested Thursday at her home and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of elder abuse by a non-caretaker, identity theft and other charges, Seckinger said.
The financial losses suffered were not recovered, he said.
