Crash Snarls 405 During Morning Rush Hour

The wreck backed up traffic from the 101 Freeway interchange to Wilshire Boulevard

An injury crash shut down four lanes of the southbound 405 Freeway from the San Fernando Valley to West Los Angeles Wednesday morning, snarling traffic during early morning rush hour, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The carpool and three adjacent left lanes were blocked near as a result of the wreck near Wilshire Boulevard, which was reported just before 5 a.m., according to the CHP.

Lanes that were closed during the crash reopened about 6:30 a.m., but traffic continued to crawl in the closure's aftermath.

Morning commuters were inching along as slow as 6 mph, according to Sigalert.com.

The southbound side of the 405 Freeway was in the red from Sherman Way in the San Fernando Valley all the way to Wilshire Boulevard near West LA.

Details on injuries were not immediately released.
