Crunch on Free Carrot Day at Tanaka Farms

Take a wagon ride (it's complimentary!) to the carrot patch and pick one free bunch.

What to Know

  • Monday, July 15
  • Irvine
  • Free wagon ride and one free bunch of carrots (you pick 'em); check wagon ride times

Ever claimed that Monday has absolutely no gifts to give?

We'll politely dispute that notion, pretty darn quickly, for the first day of the week isn't the sad-sacky affair it is too often painted to be.

Take Tanaka Farms, in Irvine, the history-rich property that brims with vegetable-based vavoom and fruit-tastic flavor. It just posted a bit of a "flash" sale for Monday, July 15, if flash sales were actually built around free giveaways that involved one of the greatest root vegetables ever.

It's the carrot, of course, that we're talking about here, that versatile crunchable that shows up in our salads (mmm, carrot shavings) and in our savory sides (in crunchy coin form) and in an iconic cake, too (the one that's thick with cream cheese and dessert spices).

And now we'll pause to dangle this carrot before you: If you can get to Tanaka Farms on July 15, you'll score a double dose of free-a-tude.

One? You can hop on a wagon ride, for free, should your summer need a bit more homespun fun.

Two? You can pick one bunch of yummy carrots, for free.

What? A pair of free things at the start of the week?

It's like Monday is wearing its finest Friday clothes.

If you want more than one bunch of carrots to take home, they'll go for $3.49 a bunch, after your initial freebie.

As for the wagon rides? Tanaka Farms has three times posted for July 15: 11 a.m., 12:15 p.m., and 2:30 in the afternoon.

As for the colossal sunflowers that are a mid-July sight at the agra-iconic destination? Oh yeah, those are happening, too.
