A female bicyclist was killed after being struck by a Metro bus when riding on PCH in Malibu Saturday, authorities said.

The victim, a 36-year-old Latina resident of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sgt. Lamont Stringer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Malibu/Lost Hills Station.

The woman cyclist was riding along Pacific Coast Highway near Puerco Canyon Road when she "lost control of her bike" and "ended up falling into the roadway," Stringer said.

She was hit by the bus after falling in front of it, he said.

Her name could not be released yet, he said.

The incident occurred at 1:50 p.m. at 25019 Pacific Coast Highway (map). It remains under investigation, Stringer said.

PCH was closed temporarily during the investigation.
