Hikers found a decomposing body in the Stevenson Ranch area Saturday, authorities said.
The discovery was made about 11:30 a.m. off Pico Canyon Road at Southern Oaks Drive, according to Lt. Leo Bauer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Santa Clarita station.
"We believe it is male, a John Doe," Bauer said.
Deputies were securing the scene so homicide detectives and coroner's officials could determine whether the death was from natural causes or a homicide, he said.
