Torrance Marine to Be Honored at Dodger Game

U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Cameron Huntelman of Torrance will be honored as the Military Hero of the Game Wednesday as the Los Angeles Dodgers play host to the Cincinnati Reds at Dodger Stadium to conclude their second homestand of the 2019 season.

Huntelman enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2012. He served in the 3rd Marine Logistics Group in Okinawa, Japan, as a communicator and later as a transportation capacity planning tool operator responsible for troop movement logistics.

Huntelman is the radio platoon sergeant for the 5th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment Oscar Battery. His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, two Certificate of Commendations and Meritorious Mast.

Wednesday's 12:10 p.m. start stems from Major League Baseball's collective bargaining agreement, where earlier game times are required on travel days to accommodate teams making cross-country flights. The Dodgers are scheduled to begin a seven-game road trip Thursday in Milwaukee.
