Driver Dies in Paramount Crash After Pursuit

A driver died early Monday after crashing his car on the 710 Freeway after a police chase.

Long Beach police tried to pull over a car for driving erratically at about 1:20 a.m. Monday. Police chased the car onto the 710 Freeway but backed off after the brief pursuit.

The fleeing motorist continued on the freeway at high speed. In Paramount, the car rolled over and the driver was thrown out and killed.

The driver's name hasn't been released.

All northbound lanes of the Long Beach Freeway were closed from 1:46  a.m. until 3:20 a.m. when the far left two lanes were reopened. The remaining  lanes were reopened at 5:13 a.m., CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos said.
