A woman suffered life-threatening injuries early Saturday morning when someone poured an unknown type of caustic chemical onto her in El Monte, possibly in front of an apartment building.
"On arrival, officers located a female laying in the common driveway at 362 Durfee Road," El Monte Police Sgt. Richard Luna said. "The female had severe burns to her face and body."
Officers were dispatched to the location at 1:03 a.m. after someone reported the woman's screams, and paramedics rushed her to an area hospital, said Luna, adding that the suspect fled the scene in an unknown-type vehicle, in an unknown direction.
A motive for the attack was unknown.
