Elderly Woman Found Dead in Her Home by Son

Police suspect foul play

An elderly woman was found dead inside her San Bernardino home by her son Wednesday afternoon and police suspect foul play.

San Bernardino City Police have identified the victim as Mary Elizabeth Blaskey, 76. Investigators say Blaskey's son discovered his mother's body when he stopped by to pick her up for a doctor's appointment.
Her home, in the 3000 block of N. Fremontia Drive, showed signs of being ransacked and her car, a 2001 grey-green Lexus ES-300 with California license plates 4ULT539, is missing.
A motive has not yet been determined, said Lt. Paul Williams.
Residents in the neighborhood where many elderly and retired people live said the tragedy has made them worry about their own vulnerability.
"I've already talked to neighbors," said Jenny Alarid. "We've all told each other we're gonna look out for each other."
