Family Mourns Man Found Dead in Refrigerator

A grief-stricken father spoke out Wednesday, one day after his son's body was discovered inside a refrigerator dumped on an Ontario street.

Family members placed flowers and candles at Hope Avenue as they prayed and mourned a deeply beloved man. The body of Jason Daniel Garcia, 36, was found there around 6 a.m. Tuesday inside a refrigerator with its door wide open.

"The last time I saw my son, he was in good spirits," said Jose Garcia, who was still processing the news of his son's death one day after police arrived at his Downy home to give him the terrible news.

"He was a good man. We were having a good time," Jose Garcia said, recalling how his son had helped him fix a family member's fence the last time the two were together.

Surveillance video first aired by NBC4 shows a light-colored pickup truck carrying the refrigerator where Jason Daniel Garcia's body was found. Investigators later spotted the truck and impounded it after pulling over the driver, but they made no arrests.

On Wednesday, as family members continued to grieve, they also continued to hope that Jason Daniel Garcia will get the justice he deserves.

"He's got to be remembered that way - he was a good person," Jose Garcia said.
