Evacuations Lifted for Wrightwood Fire Area

Evacuations were lifted Saturday evening after a brush fire scorched 11 acres in the Wrightwood area.

The fire broke out at Zeermatt and Pacific Crest drives in Wrightwood around 11:49 a.m. Saturday, said Nathan Judy, a spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service.

Judy noted structure protection was in place.

Mandatory evacuations were ordered on Pacific Crest Drive between Zermatt Drive and Lone Pine Canyon Road. They were lifted before 6 p.m., said Cindy Bachman of the San Beranrdino County Sheriff's Department.

Highway 2 was closed at Wright Mountain Road, sheriff's officials added.

San Bernardino County and Los Angeles County Fire departments and the U.S. Forest Service responded to the fire.
