Firefighters Evacuate Senior Apartments Due to Flooding in West Hollywood

Water leaked through the roof, which was being repaired after damaged caused by an earlier storm

Firefighters evacuated an apartment building Tuesday morning in West Hollywood after water began leaking through the roof, sheriff's deputies said.

The leak was reported around 4:15 a.m. in the 800 block of West Knoll Drive. The three-story buidling, which has 134 units, was being evacuated on the second and third floors, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The apartment building is primarily occupied by retirees and seniors. The building experienced flooding in July and its roof was being worked on since that time, deputies said.

A resident said there were 168 residents in the building, including healthcare workers.

Deputies said the West hollywood Park Auditorium would be a possible evacuation center.
