Firefighters Save Woman From “Brutal” Dog Attack in Long Beach

One of the firefighters suffered puncture wounds to his wrist and forearm. He was treated at a hospital and released.

An elderly woman was “brutally attacked” by a large dog in Long Beach Monday, officials said.

Long Beach firefighters returning from a call of service noticed the defenseless woman being attacked by the dog around 4 p.m. on the 3700 block of East 5th Avenue.

The firefighters engaged the dog and prevented further injury.

The woman was taken to the hospital.
