First Headliners Revealed for Pacific Amphitheatre Summer Series

Kool & the Gang will join the 2018 Toyota Summer Concert Series at the Pacific Amphitheatre.

THE PERFECT JULY EVENING... at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa? There might be a bit of a tangy breeze, the sort of breeze that can't exactly be described as briny — you're not right at the ocean's edge — and yet there's some Pacific-nice coolness on the wind. You've just eaten something delicious, at the OC Fair next door, and you're sipping a beverage, maybe the perfect tea or craft beer. And the stars above? They should begin to twinkle as the sun drops in the west. But it is all about the band on stage, the singer at the mic, the songs that you've come to hear. For the location regularly welcomes those acts who draw the fans from all over Southern California, devotees eager to hear the huge hits they remember as well as the newer tunes, too. It is, in short, a SoCal summer tradition, concerts at the Pacific Amphitheatre, and the Toyota Summer Concert Series will again return to the outdoor venue in July 2018. So who'll be rocking out at the upcoming shows? The first headliners for the season were revealed on Monday, Jan. 22, and they include...

KOOL & THE GANG... and the Village People on Wednesday, July 18, Straight No Chaser and Jon McLaughlin on Sunday, July 8, Steve Martin, Martin Short, The Steep Canyon Rangers, and Jeff Babko on Friday, July 20, and Brett Eldredge and Honey Country on Sunday, July 29. The ticket on-sale date? That opens on Saturday, Jan. 27. More acts will surely be announced in the coming weeks, so best start thinking about your visits to Costa Mesa when the first full month of summer arrives. A good bet? Keep watch on this site for more great musical treats to come. It isn't summer yet — it isn't even spring — but we can start thinking of those perfect Pacific Amphitheatre nights, the ones that are all about savoring our favorite songs played live by our favorite bands.
