Five Robbers Break Into Sherman Oaks Home, Tie Up Victims

A neighbor called 911.

Five men broke into a home in Sherman Oaks, tied up the victims and made off with jewelry and cash on Wednesday night.

The home invasion occurred around 10 p.m. on the 4500 block of Tyrone Avenue. A neighbor called 911 after one of the victims escaped, the LAPD said.

"Suddenly we heard some banging on the door and it was one of the victims," said neighbor Craig Mayo. "He was tied up. He had a tie around his wrist and was in his underwear. He was scared, obviously, so we called the police."

It was not immediately clear whether the intruders were armed.

No injuries were reported. The exact value of the stolen items is not known.

Detectives said they have retrieved surveillance video from the home, but the robbers' faces were covered with hats.

A detailed description of the robbers' getaway vehicle was not immediately available. There is also no information on whether the robbers were armed.

Anyone with any information is asked to give LAPD a call.
