EAST LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- A tanker truck overturned on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in East Los Angeles on Tuesday, spilling a waste oil product onto the roadway and leaving all lanes blocked before the start of the morning commute but causing no injuries, authorities said.
The solo crash on the southbound Santa Ana Freeway just south of Indiana Street was reported about 1:20 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer David Porter. No one was injured, he said.
All lanes were shut down until shortly after 7 a.m., when three lanes reopened while two remained blocked. By 8 a.m., all lanes has reopened.
CHP Officer Ben Chaney told an On Scene Video camera crew that the tanker was carrying about 50,000 pounds of a waste oil product. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
