Man Accused of Impersonating an Officer and Trying to Pull Over a Real Detective

The detective was driving an unmarked car on a Southern California freeway at the time of the encounter

A 23-year-old Fontana man is accused of impersonating a police officer and trying to pull over a sheriff's detective who was driving an unmarked car on a freeway.

Imroj Singh was arrested Wednesday after he tried to pull over the detective from the San Bernardino County Sheriff on the 210 Freeway near Baseline Street in Upland, officials said in a news release.

The suspect was in a black 2018 Jeep Wrangler when he allegedly activated red and blue strobe lights and tried to pull the detective over, officials said. The detective thought it might be an unmarked CHP unit and started to pull over. But then the detective realized he wasn't a cop and chased the suspect down.

After a short, high speed chase, the suspect was arrested.

He was booked into a county jail and held on a misdemeanor charge.

Authorities says they think he may have previously used the lights and Jeep to stop others.
