Four people were killed in a head-on collision between two pickup trucks early Saturday morning near Lake Mathews, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At around 5:10 a.m. a GMC Sierra carrying a man and a woman in their 50s collided head-on with a Chevy Avalanche on Cajalco Road. Both passengers inside the Chevy were pronounced dead at the scene. The man in the GMC was also pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger later died after being taken to a nearby hospital.
The identities of the dead have not been released. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
