Officers arrived at the home around 10:50 p.m. and found 52-year-old Manuela Padilla, her 17-year-old son Johnny Padilla and Maryann Pailla, 25, all dead in their beds. Maryann's boyfriend, a 28-year-old man, was also dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at the foot of her bed.

Maryann's sister, April Mejia, was mourning the loss of her family members outside the home in Pomona Friday morning.

"I knew he loved her and he said he couldn't live without her but I never in a million years would have thought he would have taken my family ," Mejia said.

Police tape blocked the house Friday afternoon as authorities continued their investigation.

"This could have happened within 30 seconds easily from one room to the next room to the next room without anyone knowing what had just happened," said Lt. Mike Keltner of the Pomona Police Department.

Family friend Leonard Pina said Maryann and her mother had argued about her boyfriend before the deadly encounter Thursday night.

"I knew the mom was already really upset with her," Pina said. "He's pretty much, if you want to call it a leech, just living off the daughter."

Homicide detectives are investigating. Pomona PD officials said they are investigating the case as a murder-suicide.
