Driver ID’d in Fatal Fullerton Wreck Outside Hospital

A wrong-way driver who died when he caused an eight-car wreck outside a Fullerton hospital was identified Friday.

Adrian Davis, 57, of Brea, was driving his yellow sport-utility vehicle against traffic on Harbor Boulevard Thursday when he slammed into several cars waiting at a red light, according to the Orange County Coroner’s Office.

Six cars, including Davis’ overturned SUV, were mangled together outside St. Jude Medical Center on Harbor Boulevard and Valencia Meza Drive. At least one crash victim walked to the emergency room for help.

"It was really fortunate that there were so many medical responders here right away," Sgt. Jeff Stuart, with the Fullerton Police Department, told NBC4 Thursday night. "That may be why so many people survived."

Witnesses said the driver of the overturned SUV was speeding down the wrong side of Harbor Boulevard then barreled into a line of cars waiting at a red light.

"It looked like it was intentional," witness Yvette Garcia said. "The driver was not swerving, he didn't honk. He was basically just coming on to oncoming traffic, on to us."

The SUV driver died on impact, police said. Five others were injured.
