A 7-year-old child was hospitalized with a broken leg after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Boyle Heights area Saturday, police said.
The child had run into the street about 6:20 p.m. in the 3100 block of Ganahl Street when a white compact car struck him and kept going, Los Angeles Police Department officials said.
The child was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. He was expected to be OK.
Police initially said the child was a girl, but later issued a correction and said it was a boy.
Police were at the scene investigating the crash.
