A 37-year-old man was fatally shot during a confrontation south of downtown Los Angeles early Saturday morning, officials said.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of 14th Street and Long Beach Avenue just before 3:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police initially said the shooting was in connection with a reported purse snatching that involved two assailants.
The shooting victim was transported to a hospital where he later died.
