Granada Hills Charter High School was once again named the winner of this year's statewide academic decathlon, the Los Angeles Unified School District announced Sunday.
Beating 69 high school teams, the nine-member team scored 61,149.6 points out of a possible 65,400 at the California Academic Decathlon that took place this weekend in Sacramento.
The San Fernando Valley school continued its winning streak, previously snatching top titles from state and national decathlons from 2011-2013 and 2015.
"It is so very inspiring that Academic Decathlon teams from the West Valley continue a tradition of academic excellence and achievement," said LAUSD board member Scott M. Schmerelson. "We are extremely proud of our students who, year after year, embody the spirit of hard work and distinguish themselves as true champions."
Granada Hills' very own Joshua Lin earned the competition's highest individual score, including a scholarship for the highest combined score for math and science.
Additionally, Granada Hills tied with Marshall High School in Los Angeles for first place in the Super Quiz competition with a perfect score of 5,400 points.

Franklin High School in Los Angeles placed second in the decathlon with 59,133.3 points.
"I am extremely proud of all of the LAUSD students competing in this year's State Academic Decathlon competition, including those of Franklin, Marshall, and Bell," said LAUSD Board Member Dr. Ref Rodriguez. "Thank you to the students for your hard work, to the teachers who guided them on this journey, and to the parents who supported them every step of the way."
Granada Hills Charter High School will move on to represent California in a nationwide decathlon next month in Anchorage, Alaska.
