AROUND YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD... on Halloween night? Ghosts may be flitting about, the kind of frolicsome phantoms that don't rattle chains all that much as they'd rather fill up on candy and various snacks and treats. Those ghosts sure are effortlessly charming, but we know, by the close of Oct. 31, they'll turn back into human beings again. Legend has it, though, that other spirits shimmer on the final day of October, and they aren't wearing costumes that were purchased solely for the candy-centric holiday. These spirits may be sensed indoors at a highly haunted location, like the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose or the Queen Mary in Long Beach, but there's a place that has a strong outdoorsy element to it, too. TUESDAY, OCT. 31: The History/Mystery Lantern Tour & Live Paranormal Investigation is $15 and will be led by guide J. Paul Corlew. Other regular seekers of spirits will join some of the October tours, so keep your eyes/ears peeled as you walk among the rambling old buildings. Might you spy something weird flash by?
