Happy 80th Season, Snow Valley Mountain Resort

The Running Springs play place jumped into the 2017-2018 season on Friday, Dec. 15.

SO YOU SAY THAT YOU... and your five snow-obsessed besties love a good six-person chairlift? That isn't always easy to find. It isn't, though, an order that's too tall, at least in Southern California, for there is a six-person chairlift at Snow Valley Mountain Resort. The San Bernardino Mountains go-to for snowy good times rocks the only six-person chairlift in Southern California, as a matter of fact, and it rocks a long and impressive history, too. Snow Valley has counted up eight decades now, as of the beginning of the 2017-2018 season, and over that time it has become known for its night skiing, its Slide Peak (a slope that sports a 35-degree pitch), and 240 acres of ski-ready terrain, as well as being a value favorite in the region. It's also a favorite day trip for locals around Southern California, as it is quite accessible. So accessible that you can go hit the hill for a few hours and then be home in time for supper. If this all appeals, and you can't wait on wintry pursuits for another minute, take heart: Snow Valley...

OPENED ON FRIDAY, DEC. 15: Night skiing hasn't kicked off just yet, but will, do note, as will the Snow Valley Express, that six-person chairlift, which will rev up at the end of December. The snowmaking continues, and temperatures are dropping, meaning more substantial ski-tastic spread for the slopes. For now, it is all about you, your skis, your board, and the snow, and lift tickets for adults are $35 for a full day (half day tickets are available, too). If you're looking to learn how to ski, check out Ski School, which is expanding this season (and, yep, there's "learning-only terrain," giving newcomers a chance to hone the skills they need) For all the need-to-knows about the Running Springs resort, ride in this direction. Happy 80th, Snow Valley!
