Authorities and members of a fatally injured motorcyclist appealed Friday for public help to find a hit-and-run motorist involved in the multi-vehicle crash took the man's life.
The crash occurred at about 8 p.m. July 10 on the eastbound 60 Freeway near Grand Avenue. Daniel Gutierrez, 39, of Riverside died at a hospital.
Gutierrez's 2016 Harley-Davidson was struck by a car whose driver lost control after colliding with two big rigs, one of which kept going, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The hit-and-run vehicle was described only as an older-model red Freightliner truck that was pulling a red trailer.
Gutierrez' father, Don, said his son "was always smiling."
"My daughter-in-law took hundreds of pictures of him. And even when he was a little kid, [in] every picture, he always had a smile on his face," the victim's dad said at a news conference this morning at the CHP's Baldwin Park Area office.
"He didn't deserve for this to happen to him," Delilah Gutierrez said of her late husband. "Especially someone who caused the accident to just leave him like that; not [to] have any compassion or any care about him. Our family is very devastated."

A $5,000 reward for information on the crash is being offered. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the CHP's Baldwin Park Area office at (626) 338-1164. Police say they are already getting calls about the case.
