Police are looking for an armed robber who briefly let down his guard -- and his hoodie -- during a heist last month at a Compton convenience store.
Security camera images show the "Hoodie Bandit" pull his hoodie up around his face, but then pull it back down when demanding money from employees behind the counter.
The crime occurred about 1:20 p.m. July 21 at an am/pm store at an Arco gas station in the 2800 block of Alondra Boulevard, the sheriff's department reported. He entered the store with at least two customers inside, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the cash register.
"The cashiers did not understand what was being said because the suspect's mouth was covered with his hoodie sweatshirt," the sheriff's department statement said. "The suspect removed the hoodie from his mouth exposing his face and again brandishing the handgun demanded money stating, 'I'll put a bullet in your face.'"
The man took money from the register and drove off in a newer-model silver SUV, possibly an Infiniti or Audi with black rims.
