Horse Falls on Two Children, Killing 12-Year-Old Girl

One of the children had no pulse, was not breathing and was in grave condition when taken to a hospital

A horse fell on two children in Lake View Terrace, killing a 12-year-old girl and leaving her younger sister in critical condition. 

Details about the incident at or near the Lake View Terrace Recreation Center were not immediately available. Firefighter-paramedics responded to a report of a horse that fell on the children, who were on the same horse, at about 8 p.m. 

One of the children had no pulse, was not breathing and was in grave condition when taken to a hospital. The girl, identified Wednesday as Yolanda Ceja, later died at the hospital

Her 4-year-old sister remained hospitalized Wednesday morning.

The community in the northeast San Fernando Valley has an equestian center and horseback riding trails.
