Police are seeking a warrant for a home in North Hills Saturday after firefighters responding to an early-morning blaze there found hundreds of marijuana plants throughout the house.
Los Angeles firefighters estimated there were between 300 and 500 plants in the home at 9137 Monogram Ave. (map), according to police Sgt. Humberto Najera.
A male resident of the home was handcuffed taken into custody on suspicion of marijuana sales, Najera said. His name was not released.
Video from the scene showed the home had been more or less gutted, with blackened plants throughout the front room. The home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, Battalion Chief Mark Saxelby said.
The home contained an interior irrigation system and the many pot plants in "varying stages of growth," Najera said.
The home has been secured and a warrant was being written midday Saturday, he said.

Firefighters were dispatched to the home, in a residential area of the north San Fernando Valley, at 12:30 a.m.
