Hundreds of Kaiser Nurses Stage Protest Over Benefits

Several hundred unionized registered nurses at Kaiser Los Angeles Medical Center staged a protest Wednesday morning.

As many as 1,000 nurses are taking part in the strike to protest health coverage and retirement benefits, said union officials. The workers picked up their picket signs at 6 a.m. outside the hospital at 4867 W. Sunset Boulevard.

They’re scheduled to walk the picket line until 2 p.m.

Similar picketing is expected to continue Thursday and Friday throughout California as part of a three-day strike against Kaiser Permanente, said union officials.
