Jazzy Times at Idyllwild's Sound-Big Weekend

Mountain music rings over three relax-enjoy days.

MUSIC FESTIVALS... around the Golden State awesomely cover all manner of tune-makery, from alternative to classical to alternative-classical and hundreds of other genres beyond those. But to find the perfect combo of jazz-great performances, and mountain-tall trees, and art-lovely fundraising, you'll want to head to Idyllwild around the middle of August. For that's where Jazz in the Pines so fabulously flows on each year, as it has done for a quarter century. And flow again, it shall: Aug. 10 through 12 are the dates, and while there was an evacation following the Cranston Fire in late July, the party is absolutely on and going forward.

IDYLLWILD ARTS... is the weekend's beneficary, so your ticket price of $75 per day, or $150 for both Saturday and Sunday, will help bolster creativity, vision, and joy. Good stuff, but also good? The great acts lined up for 2018, which is the 25th anniversary of the beloved, take-it-easy, soak-in-the-sounds scene? The Pete Escovedo Orchestra, The Azar Lawrence Experience, and several other primo acts and artists. The brassy vibe'll be strong, the tonal explorations adventurous, and feeling that fun and discovery of discovering a new performer or instrument you're especially connecting with can be part of the larger picture.

FIND YOUR TICKET INFO... right here, then make your way up, up, up to beautiful Idyllwild, where temperatures will be a bit cooler than they've been around San Diego, Los Angeles, and nearby environs, but the music will be as warm as love.
