Join June Lake's First-Ever ‘Leaves in the Loop'

Chances to snap leafy photos, and cycle by trees, are part of this three-day autumn-tacular.

IF YOU'RE IN THE LOOP... on where to see splendid fall foliage, then you're probably also in the actual Loop, on occasion, as in June Lake Loop, the tree-amazing drive that wends through "The Switzerland of California" in Mono County. For that is one of the most photographed, swooned-over, and flat-out iconic places to spy the leafy gifts of October, and plenty of fall fans make an Eastern Sierra road trip part of their annual vacation calendar. But there's something a bit different happening in and around June Lake Loop in 2019, with the launch of the inaugural Leaves in the Loop: A June Lake Autumn Experience. It's a three-day celebration of the golden, fluttering aspen leaves, as well as the other trees seen in the area, and the events on the schedule are filled with art, outdoor enjoyment, and a coming-together in honor of the most colorful season.

THE DATES? You can probably guess that mid-October is the time, and you'd be correct: Oct. 18-20, 2019 is when all of the leafy magic'll be in the air. Just eye the schedule, before you go, to make sure you are able to June, er, join the activities that appeal to you. There's a free shuttle, too, for 12 hours on Saturday, beginning at 7 in the morning, making it easier to move around the area, should you want someone else to do the driving. One other lovely happening? The J1 chair lift at June Mountain will be running for a few hours on Saturday afternoon to give visitors that "bird's eye view of this stunning time of year." For times, prices, and all the foliage 411 you need, drift like a leaf to this site now.
