Spending a sunshine-drenched day at Tanaka Farms in Irvine?
You're probably on the move while there, dashing after your toddler, or picking strawberries, or posing for a photo with a Hello Kitty character, or making your way to the pumpkin patch in the fall.
But there's another way to move through the historic and verdant spread, and to help move funds, goodwill, and a generous spirit in the direction of farmers in Japan impacted by the earthquake of 2011, and resulting tsunami.
How?
By signing up for Walk the Farm, an event presented by Tanaka Farms and the Orange County Optimist Club.
The Saturday, June 15 event will be an educational, fresh-airy, and flavorful day for those people who do join the walk, all while "... send(ing) the message of 'Kibou' (Hope) to the farmers in Japan."

Money raised from the event? Tanaka Farms will look into "... providing scholarships to students at Fukushima University which has started a program that is geared directly for the affected area."

A ticket to walk?
It's $30, and you'll make the 1.5-mile trek around the farm, "... sampling fresh fruits and vegetables along the way." The check-in time is between 9 and 11 o'clock in the morning.
Consider this happening to be a fresh window into the popular place, and a new way to see what Tanaka Farms does every day, all while helping people who may live across the Pacific but who also remain close to many hearts here in California.
