Brush Fire in Jurupa Valley Lights Power Poles on Fire

Firefighters halted the forward spread of a three-acre brush fire that ignited in Jurupa Valley Sunday.

The fire was reported at 2:20 p.m. near the 5400 block of Felspar Street and was burning in heavy brush at a moderate of speed, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The fire prompted authorities to close Felspar Street, and crews from Southern California Edison were summoned to the scene to repair power poles that caught fire.

Fire officials said a water-dropping helicopter was deployed to assist fire crews on the ground.

No evacuations or injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
