A man was hospitalized after being shot by a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy Saturday night in South Gate, authorities said.
The man's condition was unknown, according to a Sheriff's Department statement.
The shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. at South Gate Park, near the intersection of Southern and Pinehurst avenues (map).
Sheriff's officials did not immediately release further information.
