Power Outage Reported in Studio City Neighborhood

LAFD initially believed there was an underground vault explosion

Tree trimmers in a Studio City neighborhood somehow caused downed power lines, creating a power outage in the area on Tuesday morning.

The Los Angeles Fire Department initially responded to a reported explosion around 9:45 a.m. on Moorpark Street. It turned out there was no explosion.

Tree trimmers caused downed power lines which impacted a transformer. The manhole cover may have been blown off from pressure set off by smoke, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

Aerial footage from NewsChopper4 showed firefighters securing the area around Moorpark Street and Farmdale Avenue due to the smoke.

There was a reported power outage in the area. At least 843 LADWP customers were without power until it was fully restored around 2:40 p.m.

There were no reported injuries and no reported damage to any structures.
