Suspect, 72, Arrested in 1980s Cold Case Murders: Police

A 72-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of three murders committed in the late 1980s, the Los Angeles Police Department announced Monday.

Samuel Little, also known as Samuel McDowell, was arrested Sept. 5 in Louisville, Ky., on a Los Angeles narcotics warrant from 2009, police said. He waived extradition and was returned to LA in October, police said.

Little was wanted on suspicion of murder for the 1987 slaying of Carol Alford and the 1989 slayings of Audrey Nelson and Guadalupe Apodaca.

Police credited the arrest in the cold cases to DNA evidence.

"Other Los Angeles area cases are still being reviewed for a possible connection to Little," police said in a statement.
